FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

WHAT IS IN A LONDON MULE?

A London Mule mainly is made up of fresh lime juice, gin, and ginger beer.

It’s a refreshing co*cktail that offers a tangy, spicy, and slightly sweet taste.

I like to go a little heavier on the ginger beer, personally. You can find the balance that works best for you!

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT THAN OTHER MULE co*ckTAILS?

Mostly, the difference lies in the choice of alcohol.

While a classic Moscow Mule uses vodka, the London Mule uses gin.

This gives the London Mule a distinct juniper note, thanks to the gin.

ANY ADDITIONS?

Oh, you can add all kinds of things! Try these ones out.

  • Add a sprig of fresh mint for a burst of freshness.
  • Introduce a splash of simple syrup for added sweetness.
  • Use cucumber slices for a crisp twist.
  • Mix in muddled mint for an aromatic touch.
  • Add a few drops of spice extracts for extra kick.
  • Throw in a few juniper berries for an enhanced gin flavor.
  • Experiment with different types of ginger beer for varying levels of spiciness.
  • Stir in some fresh ginger for an added zing.
  • Place a lime wheel on the rim for garnish.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig for an extra aromatic touch.

ANY SUBSTITUTIONS?

While it won’t strictly be a London Mule anymore, these subs will certainly be tasty!

  • Use a ginger ale instead of ginger beer for a milder taste.
  • Swap the gin for vodka for a more traditional Moscow Mule taste.
  • Instead of granulated sugar, use coarse sugar.
  • Use lemon juice instead of lime for a different citrusy vibe.
  • If you don’t have fresh limes, bottled lime juice can work in a pinch.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, simply skip the gin and enjoy a ginger-lime mocktail!

HOW TO STORE:

Refrigerator: If you’ve pre-made the mix, store it in a highball glass or airtight container and consume it within 24 hours.

This will get you the best flavor!

Freezer: Not recommended. Ice will dilute the drink as it melts, and freezing may alter the drink’s taste.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Always use premium gin for the best tasting London Mule.
  • A copper mug can be a fun alternative to a rocks glass and keeps your drink cooler for longer!
  • To ensure the sugar sticks well to the rim, make sure the lime wedge you use is juicy.
  • Choose a spicy ginger beer for that extra zesty kick.
  • Don’t have a co*cktail shaker? Just give your drink a quick stir in the glass.
  • For a modern classic co*cktail vibe, garnish with both a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.

If you’re a gin lover or just looking for a new co*cktail to shake up your drink routine, the London Mule is your answer. The blend of tangy lime, aromatic gin, and spicy ginger beer creates a modern classic co*cktail that’s hard to resist.
